AUDITION-PROFESSIONAL INTENSIVE TRAINING

Combined Argentinean Tango and Flamenco dance and percussion training for professional dancers of other backgrounds

Miriam Faura and Julian Marcelo Elizari will be running a unique program that will give the opportunity to 20 advanced (three or more years of full time training) and professional dancers of other dance backgrounds (Contemporary, Jazz, Modern, Commercial, Salsa...) to learn Argentinean Tango and Flamenco dance and percussion technique in order to broader their skills and to prepare professional dancers to work with the company in their future regular events at Race and Rhythm Space in North London. Race and Rhythm DT incorporates Flamenco and Argentinean Tango as main elements in movement vocabulary of their works.
Courses are 6-8 hours a day for five days Mon- Fri and one day performance at Race and Rhythm Space in North London.
All participants will perform at the Argentinean Tango Short Film Festival with a piece created during the week. There is not an extra fee for the performance.

Selected professional dancers with 3 o more years of experience will be paid £100 for the final performance at the Argentinean Tango short film Festival

Race and Rhythm will also select 6 performers from the workshops-auditions for their upcoming performances 2009 15th October and 17th December and two more possible dates and further performances in 2010 at Race and Rhythm Space plus the possibility of other contracts during the year in Uk and abroad.

Dancers who have previously attended to our auditions or contacted us in the past are welcome to apply.

Week 2 Price £150

21st-25th September 2009 with performance on 25th September.

Argentinean Tango Film Festival at Race and Rhythm Space 20th, 24th and 25th September

Cinefilia Tanguera and Race and Rhythm DT will collaborate in the projection of
the first International Argentinean Tango Short Film Festival.

Cinefilia Tanghera is a Short-Film Event on the theme of Tango. During the Festival at Race and Rhythm Space, we'll be able to enjoy the visions of the works of many artists coming from different countries from all over the world. The short works include video-dance, animation,fiction and documentary.

The events will start with 90 minutes of screening, Flamenco performances, Tango Performances and special live music shows with international guest artists.
The events will finish with music and dance Jam session with artists from different dance and music backgrounds and hopefully all of you.

Thursday 15th OCTOBER from 6.30 pm: FLAMENCO AND ARGENTINEAN TANGO PERFORMANCE

Race and Rhythm will put back together our Flamenco-Tango performance that was showed at Race and Rhythm Studios in Tufnel Park the past year. This was a unique night with 10 artist from Flamenco and Argentinean Tango backgrounds in a multi-cultural encounter. FLAMENCO MARATHON

After the success of our past three Marathons and due to the demand of this course, we are organizing our 4th UK Flamenco Marathon.
The Marathons are intensive weekends were participants of all levels trained for 10-16 hours during Saturday and Sunday and perform for an open audience in Noche de Feria Event on Sunday evening right after the course.

Noche de Feria is back at Race and Rhythm's Space in London

Our nights of Celebration of Spanish and Latino Culture are back.
Our first night will include a performance from our special guest, Flamenco Award Winner Concha Jareno. She will be running an intensive weekend of workshops previous to their performance.
Workshops will take place Friday 15th May-Sunday 17th May
Performances will start at 8pm with video screening, Tango and Flamenco performances and live bands.

Race and Rhythm new Dance Space in Madrem, Goa

From March 2009, Race and Rhythm will run a new dance space in Goa, India. Our first activity will be an International festival including four intensive weeks of Yoga-dance Retreats.

23rd -29th March and 30th March-5th April: Combined Dance and Yoga retreat.
3 hours of Yoga and 6 hours of dance per day including Flamenco, Indian Dance, Contemporary dance, Acro-Yoga, Capoeria and Choreography.


6th-12th April: Yoga - Tango dance retreat with Introduction to Flamenco including 3 hours of yoga, 4 hours of Tango, 2 hours of Flamenco per day and social dance evenings-Milonga every night.

13th-19th April: Yoga- Video Dance retreat.
6 hours of Video_dance workshops, 3 hours of Yoga per day. The participant will resume the retreat with a finished product recorded in the beautiful landscapes of Madrem beach, Goa.

Race and Rhythm Sharing Stage with Kelly Rowland in Dubai

Aquitania launched their new project "The World" development in Dubai. Race and Rhythm and Kelly Rowland were invited to perform in the opening event at the Grosvenor Hotel in Dubai.
Race and Rhythm created a new Contemporary -Tango- Flamenco piece with 4 dancers and 2 live musicians for the event.

Miriam Faura Featured Choreographer at Dance UK

Anja Schall: Miriam, you gathered your first choreographic experience in Spain at the age of 14. You have trained as a dancer in Spain, UK and Argentina, studying classical Spanish dance, Flamenco, Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Jazz, Street Dance, African, Argentinean Tango and other Latin Dances, as well as Acting and Stage Fighting. As a Choreographer you can now feed from your broad range of skills, working in various contexts and productions; Opera, Music Videos, Artist Movement coaching, Theater plays and Dance Companies. You also have accomplished a BA Hons Performing Arts and some MA Choreography credits at Middlesex University.

Latin Dance Marathon as Part of Big Dance

Race and Rhythm is collaborating with Matices Latinos and Tiempo de Tango in a unique event that will combine 3 of the the most exiting Latin dances: Salsa, Tango and Flamenco on the 5th and 6th of July at the Dome, North Lodon.

El Zorro Musical at The West End

El Zorro Musical is arriving to the West End. From the 30th of June, El Zorro Musical will be performed at Garrick Theater. El Zorro Musical has been Choreographed by the Flamenco Star Rafael Amargo who counted with the assistance of the Spanish outstanding dancer Saulo Garrido.
Saulo Garrido has been collaborating with Race and Rhythm in diverse projects during the past years including our Flamenco Marathons at Noche de Feria and the Contemporary work choreographed by Miriam Faura "De Lado a Lado" . For more information visit "El Zorro Musical"

Race and Rhythm with the Spanish Tourism Board

Race and Rhythm collaborated with the Spanish Tourism Board in the successful attempt to break a World Record Guinness on "The Largest Sevillana" where 556 people danced simultaneously in Regent's Street on the 25th May.
For several weeks Race and Rhythm offered free Sevillanas workshops in collaboration with the Spanish Tourism Board and sponsored by the Cervantes Institute. During that period Race and Rhythm trained over a hundred people for the Sevillanas World Record Guinness breaking attempt.

Rafael Amargo is the Choreographer of the new Musical, "EL Zorro" that will be touring in UK previous to their debut in the West End's Garrick Theater the upcoming summer.

The Lado a Lado

"De Lado a Lado" is a 25 minute piece was premiered at The Place, Robin Howard Dance Theater on the 4th of January 2008.
A visually intense dramatic Contemporary Dance Duet combining Classical Ballet with Argentinean Tango and Flamenco, and using AV media to portray a stereotypical yet realistic case of Domestic Violence with great emotional impact.

Choreographed by Miriam Faura and Performed by Saulo Garrido and Fiona Jopp. Video Artist: Sonia Rodrigues and Music editing and adaptations: Carlos Otero.
